Feature Enhancements
Transfers: Here at Lightspeed, we understand that inventory transfers have a lot of moving parts…literally and figuratively. This is why we’ve simplified the complex for our multi-store Retailers by updating our transfer feature from beginning to end! Some of these enhancements include:
- removing the possibility to auto-add quantities for items with 0 available stock.
- including in transit items in average cost calculations.
- returning inventory that is In Transit is now done in the Received status.
- streamlining the overall design and experience of every transfer status (Open, Sent and Received).
The list goes on but every improvement was made with one intention: to help our multi-store Retailers maintain the most well-stocked and accurate inventory possible.

Serial numbers: Serialized items make up a large part of our Retailers’ inventories and its important for their employees to be able to sell them with ease and track them with accuracy. This is why going forward, employees no longer require the Inventory – Product Cost and Inventory – Product Create & Edit employee role permissions to add a new serial number during the sale of a serialized item. They only need the Inventory – Basic permission which not only prevents giving associates full permission to view and edit sensitive item information but also avoids managers having to painstakingly add all the serial numbers on-hand before they’re sold.
Please note that in order to edit an existing serial number, employees need to have either the Customers – Basic or the Inventory – Product Create & Edit permission.CLD-16752

Owner vs. Primary User: As an owner of a Retail shop, it’s important to understand the difference between having the Owner employee role in a Retail Account and being considered the Owner of a Retail account in our internal system. To make a better distinction between the 2 terms and bring clarity to how their employee permissions work, we’ve now renamed Owners in our internal system to Primary Users.

Bug Fixes
Brands: When viewing and exporting brands from Inventory > Brands, the incorrect number of results is displayed and not all the listed brands are included in the CSV export file. This is now fixed. CLD-17238

Installing your eCom store: If you’re a Retailer looking to give your in-store experience an online presence, installing your eCom store is now easier than ever! From the main menu, simply click eCom, review the pre-filled information and click Install My eCom Store. Once done, you’ll be on your way to reaching limitless customers online.
