What if someone submits an incorrect count?

Every completed inventory count in Scanner will get submitted to Lightspeed Web Register for approval by the account admin, before any stock levels are synced.

How do I use Scanner to check product information?

The Scanner app can be used to quickly retrieve information about products. Just sign into your Lightspeed store on the app. From the Products screen, select Camera scanner to scan the product barcode, or search for the product in the search bar. Tap the product name to view the product inventory at each outlet, prices, description, tags, and supplier name.

What is a barcode system for inventory?

A barcode system for inventory is a method that enables you to count, scan and track inventory using a handheld device. While a SKU (stock keeping unit) is a unique alphanumeric code internally assigned to each product, a barcode is an image comprised of a series of parallel black and white bars that are identified when scanned.

The advantages of using barcodes in inventory management include the ability to view real-time data, faster cycle counts, improved accuracy due to fewer errors produced by manual entry and more accurate inventory turnover estimations. To count inventory with a barcode scanner, you simply need to use your device and scan the code, which will then be recorded in your POS system.

Which barcode software is best?

The best barcode software is one that allows your staff to count inventory accurately and efficiently, can be used from anywhere in your store and provides related data in real time.

How do I set up an inventory barcode system?

It depends on the system you use. Typically, you should start with an inventory management software to organize your SKUs. After deciding the type of barcode you want to use (1D, 2D or even 3D) you can use a tool like Lightspeed's barcode generator to create unlimited unique barcodes.

Alternatively, you can even use QR codes for inventory management. But generally, 2D barcodes are capable of storing the most information. To track inventory, simply use a scanner to read the barcode.
