The challenge: an outdated POS system with no ecommerce integration

Before switching to Lightspeed, DenimBar used a traditional cash register, which meant the team had to manually track sales and inventory. They also had limited visibility into key areas of the business, including inventory performance, suppliers, customers and more.

DenimBar had an ecommerce site, but since the business was still on an old-school system, their website didn't connect with their in-store operations, leading to inefficiencies and missed sales opportunities.

A smooth migration process

DenimBar set out to modernize its operations, and chose Lightspeed to power its brick-and-mortar store and ecommerce website. Jennifer Nussey, who co-owns the store with her brother Jef Schnurr, says the migration process was extremely smooth, with zero hiccups along the way.

"We have a lot of inventory, but the process was very easy. It has been straightforward and easy to figure out. Even my mom, who's 75 years old, started using it right away."

She also commended Lightspeed's support team, saying that they are always responsive and helpful, no matter the issue.

Saving time with NuORDER by Lightspeed

Product orders are now a whole lot easier, thanks to NuORDER by Lightspeed. DenimBar was already a NuORDER customer before adopting Lightspeed, and Jennifer says having the two systems connected has streamlined operations.

For example, uploading 50 items to their system used to take the team around 20 minutes, but with NuORDER by Lightspeed, they can now do it in just a minute—achieving 95% time savings.

"When NuORDER by Lightspeed launched, we started right away. We have brands on NuORDER that we can just upload straight from into Lightspeed, which is quite nice. The direct uploads of the pictures and product details save us so much time."

Better business insights

Lightspeed gave Jennifer and her team greater visibility into the data they needed to make smarter business decisions. For instance, at the end of the year, she would look at her inventory reports to analyze trends and identify top-performing products.

"I can look through and see performance per brand. From there, I send a note to the people in charge of buying. That's really helpful because while we know what sells on a daily basis, the year-end reporting makes it very clear where we need to make adjustments. It was just easy to see, 'Okay, we need to make a cut there. We need to buy more of this one,' and that type of thing."

A smoother ecommerce experience

Finally, Lightspeed helped DemimBar level up its multi-channel operations. The company was previously using a different ecommerce platform and while it worked fine, Jennifer says Lightspeed is a lot easier to use.

"Lightspeed is definitely better. I found the whole thing way more user friendly in general."

Using Lightspeed for DenimBar's online and offline stores also meant having a unified system for managing both channels seamlessly, leading to even more time savings and smoother operations.

That way, Jennifer and her team can focus less on tedious admin work and spend more time on running and growing the business.
